Michael Bennett is helping 100 African girls get first-rate education; including ICT.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett is known for his play on the field and for always speaking his mind. However, that only scratches the surface of who he is and what his interests are.

As reported by Gregg Bell of The News Tribune, Bennett and his wife, Pele, have teamed up with an African-led world organization, iamtheCODE, to help 100 African girls get a top-of-the-line education.

As we’ve covered in the past, Bennett has been calling on NFL players to do more and say more when it comes to social causes. Clearly, he’s putting his money where his mouth is.

“I am truly excited to help these girls in Africa to learn how to code and gain technical skills through iamtheCODE,” Bennett was quoted in the iamtheCODE release, via Bell. “My wife Pele and I are very proud to support the building of solid tech training pipelines in communities in Africa.”

Per the report, “iamtheCODE’s goal is to mobilize governments, investors, foundations, societies and the private sector to invest in the future digital leaders. It seeks to have 1 million women and girls enabled by 2030 through technology, digital citizenship and literacy.”
